Drug & Alcohol Rehab, Detox & Treatment Resources

Heroin use is on the rise in Utica, New York. All substance abuse is on the rise all over the entire country – whether you’re talking about heroin or Xanax or alcohol – but it is especially bad in Upstate New York. For example, there were nearly 200 heroin-related calls to the Upstate New York Poison Center in 2013 up from just 55 in 2010. Onondaga County had approximately 20 heroin-related deaths in 2013 as compared to 2 in 2010.

Many healthcare professionals and addiction specialists attribute the rise in popularity of heroin to addictive prescription painkillers like oxycodone that are chemically very similar to heroin. People become addicted to prescription opiates, often because they were actually prescribed them, and then they discover heroin is a cheaper option. Drug and alcohol addiction often rips families apart, destroys lives and does severe damage to a person’s career. However, there is a reason to hope if you are stuck in the grip of addiction. You can take back control of your life and seek treatment.

Finding Help & Recovery in Utica, NY

Alcohol & Drug Rehab Centers in Utica, New York

Most people don’t know this but there are actually three different levels of treatment available in a facility. You may not need something as intensive as residential treatment, for example, if you currently have a stable place to live and you have never relapsed before. Whereas you may not be a good fit for outpatient treatment if you have a severe addiction and you need to detox from benzodiazepines or opiates before beginning treatment. Here are the three levels that are available.

Residential Treatment Programs

Patients in residential (or inpatient) treatment programs will stay in the facility so that they have access to round-the-clock medical supervision from doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. For 30, 60 or 90 days (sometimes even shorter or longer periods) patients will work with counselors and addiction specialists to conquer the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of their substance use disorder.

Partial Hospitalization Programs

Patients in a PHP (sometimes called a “dayhab”) will be at the facility for 6 to 8 hours a day. While they are in the facility, they will have access to medical care. Just like residential patients, they will work with counselors and addiction specialists to conquer the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of their substance use disorder.

Outpatient Treatment Programs

Patients in an outpatient treatment program will be at the facility for 10 to 15 hours a week. While they are in the facility, they will have access to medical care, though typically outpatient patients are not in as much of a need for medical care as inpatient patients. Just like residential and PHP patients, they will work with counselors and addiction specialists to conquer the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of their substance use disorder.

No matter which treatment program you are in need of, you will be able to take advantage of the high-quality services and amenities if you select a national network of rehabilitation facilities. Our treatment centers are always staffed with the most experienced addiction specialists to help you to formulate and individualized treatment plan for your unique situation.

Detox Centers

Many people use detox centers when they need to detox from a substance like opiates (oxycodone or hydrocodone), benzodiazepines (Valium or Xanax) or alcohol. All three of these substances can have painful or even dangerous withdrawal symptoms, and having medical supervision during a detox process can be important.
